How the "I Prayed" button works
I Prayed lets you tell someone their request was prayed for — anonymously. Tap Pray after you pray; it changes to I prayed.
I Prayed tells the person who shared a prayer request that someone prayed for them.
When you finish praying, tap I Prayed on the prayer card or prayer detail screen. The person who posted the prayer sees that someone prayed. They never see your name or other identifying details.
Why it exists
Sharing a prayer request can feel vulnerable. Knowing others are praying can help.
The button sends quiet encouragement while keeping each tap private. If you want the person to know that you are praying for them, use the contact buttons on the prayer request.
How to use it
- Open a prayer from your feed or a prayer list.
- After you have prayed, tap Pray (the praying hands icon at the bottom of the card).
- The label changes to I prayed and the icon highlights to confirm your tap.
You can use this on prayer cards in the home feed and on the prayer detail screen.
Who sees what
Someone else's request: You see Pray, then I prayed for a few hours after you tap. You do not see the total count or who else prayed.
Your own request: You may see a number badge next to the praying hands. Tap it for a brief message like "People are praying for you" and the total count ("The prayer you have shared has been prayed X times."). Only the total is shown. You can tap I Prayed on your own request too; those taps count toward the total.
Any other viewer: You can tap after you pray, but you will not see the count unless you posted the request. No one in your prayer group sees who prayed.
Tapping again
After you tap, the button stays on I prayed for a few hours. During that time you cannot tap again for the same prayer. This avoids accidental double-taps.
When that period ends, the button returns to Pray. If you pray for that request again later, tap I Prayed again and the count increases for the person who shared it.
Tap after you have prayed (or while you are praying). The button records your support. Prayer itself still happens outside the app.
Common questions
What if I tap by accident?
The few-hour lock limits repeat taps. There is no public undo. Quitting the app resets your tap for that prayer on your device.
Does I Prayed notify the person?
No message is sent. They see the updated count when they open their prayer and can tap the count for a short encouraging popup.
Does it work offline?
Your screen updates right away. The count syncs when you are back online.
